The Amber Alert
This year marks the 14th year that the Amber Alert program has been put into effect. The Amber Alert gets its name from the inspiration for the Amber Alert program Amber Hagerman. Amber Hagerman was a young girl that was only ten years old when she had been riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas on the day she was kidnapped. The ten year old Amber Hagerman was kidnapped, then brutally married. There was a huge community outreach that resulted as a result of her kidnapping. Family and friends swarmed the neighborhood in search for Amber Hagerman. From there, the local disc jockeys even got involved in broadcasting around the region the disappearance of Amber Hagerman. The movement that they undertook inspired the Amber Alert program that we have come to know and appreciate today. The spread of Amber’s disappearance through the different broadcast mediums inspired for these efforts to be executed on a state level, and eventually, a national level. 1. Kidnapped Children
Although the abduction of a child by a family member seems to rain supreme in a huge number of cases, many of times, one can argue that these are still kidnapped children. The fact that they kidnapped the child to begin with shows that they at least do not abide by the law because they were not given the legal authority to take that child, even if they are family. Then there are some kidnapped children that have been abducted by a family member that is known to be dangerous. There are also kidnapped children that have been abducted by a stranger who wants to keep them and raise them as their own child. This seems to be a rather common scenario more so than in the past. Missing kids are many times abducted by strangers. Although every missing kid has not been abducted by a stranger, it is sad to say that some of the missing kids have been. Nonetheless, there can never be a good circumstance surrounding the story of a missing kid. Having a missing kid is a terrible condition that no parent or loved one wants to have to deal with. Having a missing kid is one of the most devastating prospects that can happen to any parent. Lost children need to be found. One of the reasons that many of the lost children are being found is because when they are in these situations where they are abducted by a stranger, they have received the proper training by their parents as to what they should do in these scenarios. The FBI’s Crackdown on Child Prostitution Child Abductions
Child abductions has seemed to take an equally as corrupt discouraging turn over the last few years. Child abductions has morphed into one of the most horrific twists that there is. Some of the child abductions have reportedly been the result of child prostitution. There are several child abductions to date that are the result of a child pimp taking the missing child so that they can take on child prostitution. In fact, in October 2009, the FBI had announced that they have made 60 arrests of pimps that were accused of committing these horrible child abductions. In all the missing child cases that were associated with the child prostitution crackdown, there were 690 arrested in connection to these missing child cases. Exploited Children: Jaycee Dugard and Her Two Children
When it comes to cases of exploited children, who could forget the horrific details that had surrounded the story of the long lived exploitation of Jaycee Dugard. Jaycee Dugard was one of the exploited children that had been held with her captor for a period of eighteen years. The exploited child was first captured at the age of 11. The exploited child who is now age 29 has been held under the captivity of her abductor ever since. Some of the details of the exploited child case have been released for public record, and are quite painful to hear. Exploited children have the most horrible set of circumstances that there are. We are all glad when we hear those cases where these exploited children have been released from being the subject of these horrible circumstances any longer.
