Lost Children

Lost children need to be found. One of the reasons that many of the lost children are being found is because when they are in these situations where they are abducted by a stranger, they have received the proper training by their parents as to what they should do in these scenarios. A lost child should have been privy to this knowledge base before they ever go missing. A lost child should be prepared as to what they should do if they are ever abducted. A key rule is that if you feel that your child is old enough to be left alone for any period of time, they are old enough to learn about child abduction. Thus, a lost child should have some framework as to what they should do if they are ever abducted. Obviously, it is important to point out that after the point of abduction, most things are beyond the control of the lost children, but it is better to at least have the knowledge base so that it can be put to use if the opportunity is to ever present itself.

1. One of the things that lost children should know is that there are “good” strangers, and there are “bad” strangers. A lost child should be able to distinguish the difference between the two. Lost children should know that although they may be in the company of a “bad” stranger, in order to get away, one of the things that they can do is seek the assistance of a “good” stranger. A lost child should know that a police officer, a teacher, people behind desks and counters may be a “good” stranger that can help them. If a lost child knows these good strangers, if they are presented with the opportunity to ask for their help, they may be able to do so.

2. Lost children should have also practiced screaming with their parents. A lost child may be given the opportunity to scream at some point during the abduction in order to avoid it. A lost child should have been taught that if they are being lured by a “bad” stranger in one fashion or another, they should scream as loud as they can, and run as fast as they can. A lost child may be able to use the screaming tactic later on down the line while abducted. A lost child may see an instance where there are people around, or could potentially be, and they can scream to get someone’s help and attention.

3. Lost children are most times quite helpless, but that is not always the case. For that reason it is at least worth for lost children having the education as to what it is that they can do when they are abducted. Lost children should have whatever knowledge base that they can so that it is even more likely that they stand a fighting chance for the safe rescue in a child abduction.
